Kenny Vaden is a generative artist, which means that he writes code to produce interesting geometric artworks with varying degrees of abstraction. His artwork is characterized by intricate line work, color mastery, and often an array of small elements that organize into a larger entity. This unique style reflects a combination of prior art experiences that included drawing, painting, stained glass apprenticeships, as well as nature photography. Generative art was a direction taken because of curiosity, stemming from years of writing code for scientific analyses and precise graphics, which lead him to discover a vibrant online community of creative coders across various technical fields. His art has been jury selected for the permanent art collection at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where he is a researcher and faculty member (2016, 2022), juried annual art publication MUSC Humanitas (2015, 2016, 2020, 2022-23), Courtenay Street Art Gallery (2012), and Piccolo Spoleto Annual Juried Art Exhibition (2012, 2022-23). His artwork “Worlds” was minted in the inaugural long-form 500-piece collection on the Flutter platform by Art Blocks and Flamingo DAO (2021) and a curated collection with Quantum Art (2022). Vaden also has adapted some of his generative artworks to produce fine art prints, including giclée and programmable robot pen plotter works on archival papers.
